The latest vintage of our award-winning Spanish varietal, Albariño.
A very early start to the Hunter vintage in 2024, influenced indeed by an early Easter. Early frosts were countered by well timed rain and a warm festive season promoted a great vintage in the Hunter. Crop levels were down but we have great flavour concentration across the board from all of our vineyards.
Our Albariño is grown on well-drained sandy alluvial loam soils located in the heart of Hunter Valley wine country. The Main Flat Block of Albariño is a North-South aligned vineyard that benefits from warm days and high airflow which results in this site consistently producing the best possible expression of Albariño. This variety typically yields relatively low, therefore unique "Harbour Bridge" pruning is necessary to maximise fruit yield and concentration. Canopy thinning prior to harvest is conducted due to vegetative growth induced by this pruning technique.
Machine harvested with no separation of pressings to encourage olive brine like texture true to the variety. Non saccharomyces yeast was used to carry out the initial stages of fermentation before introducing saccharomyces to finish. The wine was left on lees until prepping for bottle in July.
