The pinnacle of our Mount View Estate, fruit taken from vine selections from the three oldest blocks on the site: Dairy Hill, Briar Hill & Red Hill.
Handpicked and brought straight to the winery, the fruit was destemmed and crushed into small open top fermenters where it underwent a cold soak before indigenous yeast built up enough strength to engage the fermentation. Post ferment the wine was pressed off into our small amphora jarre where is underwent natural malolactic fermentation and remained until the following summer before being minimally handled into bottle.
A vibrant blend of Shiraz and Tempranillo offering lifted aromas of mulberry, raspberry compote and a hint of cherry cola, layered with touches of dried rose and subtle clove. The palate is medium-bodied and expressive, showing bright redcurrant and wild berry flavours wrapped in silky tannins. Notes of savoury spice and gentle earthiness emerge toward the finish, supported by a line of fresh, balanced acidity
Drinking well now, but will cellar in the mid-term for up to five years.
